When you hear the words “knowing God” or “intimacy with God” you may not easily think of sex. Yet it has everything to do with each other!
For many people, God is so immense and holy and far away that we could never get close to Him. In our prayers we are then very careful to use the right words and often the Lord’s prayer is prayed because that is safe, because Jesus Himself taught us to pray that. And many believe that after death we will have to appear before His throne where He will then judge whether we will burn forever or live forever.
This shows that they have never come to know God. And that is precisely the point! ➡ Knowing God.
Cause….
John 17:3 (NKJ) This is eternal life: (John says) that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
Hebrews 4:16 (NKJ) Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace!
Then we can get to know God better and better. After all, you only really get to know someone when you hang out with that person. Then your relationship with that person deepens and you start speaking to each other more and more from heart to heart. You then no longer do things to please him or her, but, because you have come to know the other person, you have come to love that person and do the things you do out of love. That is the intimate relationship God wants with you.
He literally just says that, too
Hosea 6:6 (NLT) I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me, more than I want burnt offerings.
The intimacy God seeks with you can be read throughout the Bible. Just read the book of the Song of Solomon. That is all about God and you.
The intimacy God wants with you may go way beyond what you ever imagined.
I hope you have the courage to keep watching this video after what I am about to say…..
To know God is to have sex with Him.
Not in the natural, but in the spiritual.
I’ll show you.
The prophet Nahum says:
Nahum 1:7 (NKJ) The Lord is good, He knows those who trust in Him.
The word Nahum uses here that is translated with knowing is the word ידע (yada). The deepest meaning of this word is “to have sex with someone”.
Knowing God, then, is the most intimate thing that exists.
When you know God, you really start bearing fruit! You can see this beautifully in the Bible with people having sex with each other, like Adam and Eve for example.
Genesis 4:1 (NKJ) Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived.
Adam knew Eve. ➡ He had yada with Eve.
And what happens next? ➡ She starts bearing fruit!
Adam and Eve know each other intimately so Eve becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son.
The fruit Eve bears, however, is the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. Therefore, she gives birth to a son who later beats his own brother to death.
The reason for this is that Adam and Eve did not know God. They had yada with each other, but not with God, for they sought wisdom in the world and not from God. They therefore ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For…
Genesis 3:6 (ESV) The tree was pleasing to the eyes, and it was desirable for obtaining wisdom.
This wisdom, however, is the wisdom of the world. By eating of it, they began to think with the wisdom of the world.
And Paul warns us:
Romans 12:2 (NKJ) Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Because, John says,
John 1:10 (NKJ) The world did not know Him.
When you do know Him, that is, have yada with God, you will truly bear fruit.
Matthew 13:23 (NKJ) Some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
THAT fruit is
When you know God, you start bearing fruit and you will give birth to sonship. When you have yada with God, you will conceive through which ultimately sonship is born.
Just look at Mary, the mother of Jesus. An angel of the Lord says in a dream to Joseph, the husband of Mary:
Matthew 1:20 (HSV) Joseph, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son.
Mary became pregnant through the Holy Spirit of God and eventually she gave birth to sonship. In an intimate relationship with God, you too will be impregnated with the seed of His Word and you too will eventually give birth to the fullness of sonship.
Ephesians 5:31-32 (NKJ) For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but…..
I am not talking about a man and a woman. That’s just to give you a clear picture of the intimacy God is seeking with you.
….I speak concerning Christ and the church.
When you come to know God in an intimate relationship with Him, you become one flesh with Him. You and God in one house ➡ your body.
Then you get to know Him better and better and you become exactly as He is. You then become love.
For….
1 John 4:8 (NKJ) He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Therefore, Hosea says:
Hosea 6:3 (BSB) Let us press on to know the LORD.
1 Corinthians 13:12-13 (NAS) For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face
Just like a man and a woman having sex.
now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I also have been fully known.
Now, ponder that…..
But now faith, hope, and love remain, these three but the greatest of these is love.
