Revelation 5 reveals who you are, namely a king, born to reign.
Not as a dictator over other people, but a king in love who rules over the flesh.
God has declared that about you from the very beginning.
Genesis 1:27-28 (BSB)
God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him.
God blessed them and said to them,
“Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it
And rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air
And over every creature that crawls upon the earth!”
God created you in His own image; in the image of God He created you.
And He is the King over everything that exists.
You are made in the image of that king.
And God blessed you and said to you:
Be fruitful!
That doesn’t mean “have as many children as possible!”
It means “bear fruit!” (Matthew 13:23) ➡️ Dat de liefde van God in jou zichtbaar wordt.
Multiply! ➡️ as Jesus says, make disciples of all the nations. (Matthew 28:19)
Fill the earth! ➡️ with the glory of the Lord. (Numbers 14:21)
and subdue it, and rule over the fish, the birds, and over every creature that crawls upon the earth, like the snake, the great deceiver.
Do you see that?
God made us to rule as a king.
That’s what Revelation 5 is about.
In verse 10, it explicitly states:
Revelation 5:10 (NKJ)
You have made us kings and priests to our God
And we shall reign on the earth.
.
However, we have never understood what this means because we are looking outside ourselves.
But Christ in you is your hope of glory.
Colossians 1:27 (NKJ)
Christ in you; the hope of glory.
This is something that can only be understood spiritually.
And, to make us understand what it means, natural images are used.
John therefore was in the spirit when he saw all the natural images written in the book of Revelation.
Revelation 1:10 (NKJ)
I was in the Spirit…
For example, in the first verse of Revelation 5, you read about God sitting on the throne.
God is Spirit, though! (John 4:24)
His throne is inside you, and He wants you to rule with Him over the flesh, over all earthly things. Jesus shows us what that means exactly.
That’s why He says: follow Me!
Because as He is, so are you!
1 John 4:17 (NKJ)
As He is, so are we in this world.
Therefore, the book of Revelation begins with:
Revelation 1:1 (NKJ)
The revelation of Jesus Christ…
Throughout the book of Revelation, Jesus Christ is revealed to you.
And as He is, so are you!
When Jesus Christ is revealed to you, you learn your true identity.
He shows you who you are.
He does that in Revelation 5 as well.
John saw a scroll in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne, written inside and on the back, and sealed with seven seals.
You are that scroll!
2 Corinthians 3:3 (BSB)
It is clear that you are a letter from Christ,
written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God,
not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
You are written inside and on the back with the love of God, and you sit together with Him on His throne.
However, this is something we do not see and dare not believe.
And that is the meaning of the seven seals.
The seven seals depict you not seeing who you really are.
They depict that you cannot read the love of God written on your heart.
In verse 3, it is stated that no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or even to look inside it.
Nobody knew their true identity anymore because we all grew up in the teachings of Adam. (Genesis 5:3)
But this teaching is a lie because the spiritual eyes of Adam were closed, and the eyes with which he sought the kingdom of God, where God’s throne is, outside himself, were opened when he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Genesis 3:7)
Jesus came to close these eyes again and open the eyes that can see that you are God’s beloved son. Jesus says that in John 9.
For judgment I have come into this world, so that those who do not see their true identity may see, and that those who see with the eyes opened by eating the lie may be made blind.
John 9:39 (NKJ)
For judgment I have come into this world,
that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.
Jesus Christ is therefore the only one who can break your seals, so you can read what is written on your heart.
Jesus shows you who you are.
He reveals Himself to you (Revelation 1:1), He shows Himself to you so that you can see more and more clearly what the identity is that God has declared over you from the beginning, which is that you are made in exactly the same image and likeness as God to rule together with Him.
Because someone testified somewhere:
What is man that you are mindful of him?
You have set man over the works of Your hands.
You have put all things in subjection under the feet of man.
But now we do not yet see all things in subjection to us.
But we see Jesus, crowned with glory and honor.
And so Jesus shows that you are also placed over the works of God’s hands and that everything is in subjection to you.
All the natural images mentioned in Revelation 5 can only be understood in the spirit.
For example, it is stated that the scroll, your heart, is written inside and on the back.
This means that you are written with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In verses 5 and 6 of the text, therefore, it is said that the Lamb, who was slain, and the Lion who has overcome death, is the only one who can break the seals.
The conqueror of death Himself is the only one who can open your eyes.
That’s why no one who lives before Jesus Christ understands anything about what the hope of His calling is and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints and what is the surpassing greatness of His power to us who believe.
Ephesians 1:18-19 (BSB)
….revelation in your knowledge of Him.
I ask that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened,
so that you may know the hope of His calling,
and what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,
and what is the surpassing greatness of His power to us who believe
Even Daniel, for example, did not understand, although God gave these four young men, Daniel and his three friends, knowledge ,and understanding in every kind of literature, and wisdom
and Daniel had insight into all kinds of visions and dreams.
Daniel 1:17 (BSB)
To these four young men God gave knowledge
and understanding in every kind of literature, and wisdom
and Daniel had insight into all kinds of visions and dreams.
But what does Daniel say?
Daniel 12:8-9 (BSB)
I heard, but I did not understand.
And then he asks, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these events?”
And God answers, “Go your way, Daniel, for these words will be kept secret and sealed until the time of the end.”
Daniel 12:8-9 (BSB)
I heard, but I did not understand.
So I asked, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these events?”
He replied, “Go your way, Daniel,
for these words will be kept secret and sealed until the time of the end.”
Jesus Christ had not yet been revealed to him, and the scroll was therefore still sealed, which means that the words written on the inside and on the back were still secret.
This scroll would remain sealed until the time of the end.
The time of the end of what ➡️ of Adam!
Jesus is the last Adam. (1 Corinthians 15:45)
And…
Romans 6:6 (BSB)
We know that our old self (Adam) was crucified with him.
Colossians 3:1-4 (NAS)
Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above,
where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
When Christ, who is your life, is revealed to you, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. Because then the seals of your heart will be broken one by one.
When you begin to see and believe what Jesus says, you will also see and believe who you truly are. Thus, you will be revealed with Him in glory.
Thus, the earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord.
Thus, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Lion and the Lamb, you will see that you are a king and a priest to rule in the kingdom of God (Luke 17:21) and to serve in His temple (1 Cor. 6:19) ➡️your body.
