The descriptions of Cherubim and Seraphim in the Bible are very fascinating.
The cherub is described in great detail and every detail has a deep spiritual meaning.
The wings of cherubim explained from the Bible give us insight into what the Word of God does to you when you start to believe it and trust in it.
The cherub shows us our true identity.
It shows who we really are.
A cherub is a human being who has full understanding of what the death and resurrection of Christ means to him.
This is why the wheels of cherubim are completely covered with eyes.
This means he is one with God and he sees himself as God created him, in His image and in His likeness.
Because…
1 Corinthians 13:12 (NKJV)
Now you know in part, but then you shall know just as you also are known by God.
The cherub depicts the person who has come to perfection.
It depicts him who has overcome and has inherited everything from God.
Revelation 21:7
He who overcomes shall inherit all things
God has exalted him to the measure of the fullness of Christ.
God has exalted him even to His throne, as He promised in Revelation 3.
Revelation 3:21 (NKJV)
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne.
That is why the wheels of a cherub have the color turquoise.
Turquoise is one of the colors of the twelve stones in the high priest’s breastplate.
These stones bore the names of the sons of Jacob.
These stones bore the names of the sons of Jacob.
Exodus 28:21 (BSB)
The twelve stones are to correspond to the names of the sons of Israel, each engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
Turquoise is the stone that had the name of Zebulon engraved in it.
Zebulon means exalted one.
That’s exactly what the cherub is;
man who has come to perfection and has been exalted by God to His throne.
Always in His presence.
A cherub has four wings.
These wings have a deep spiritual meaning!
The first chapter of Ezekiel already uncovers what the wings of a cherub represent.
Ezekiel 1:24 (NLT)
Their wings sounded to me like the voice of the Almighty.
We also read this in chapter 10.
Ezekiel 10:5 (NKJV)
The sound of the wings of the cherubim
was like the voice of Almighty God when He speaks.
The wings of a cherub are a picture of what God says; the Word of God.
These wings have two functions.
The first of these is to lift us up from the earth.
Ezekiel 10:16 (NKJV)
When the cherubim lifted their wings to mount up from the earth,
the same wheels also did not turn from beside them.
When you have ears to hear what the Spirit of God says to you, it will lift you up from earth to heaven.
When you come to understand and believe the Word of God, you change from who you were to who you really are; a son of the creator of heaven and earth.
What God says makes you grow from the old man to the new man.
The old man lives from the flesh and reasons with earthly wisdom. The new man lives from the spirit and according to the wisdom of God.
Paul puts it this way:
1 Corinthians 15:47-49 (NKJV)
The first man was of the earth, made of dust,
the second Man is the Lord from heaven.
As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust
and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.
And as we have borne the image of the man of dust,
we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.
That’s what it does to you when you listen to what God says
and come to fully understand what He says through His Spirit within you.
Paul goes one step further still.
He says: When you allow yourself to be changed by what God says to you, you’ll be completely renewed!
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
What this exactly means is not clear to many people.
It must be revealed to them.
Therefore, in his letter to the Corinthians, Paul goes on to explain what this means to us.
He says:
1 Corinthians 15:51-53 (NKJV)
Behold, I tell you a mystery:
we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed
So Paul says that not everyone dies, but everyone will be changed.
He also tells us when that will happen:
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
This trumpet, like the wings of a cherub, is a picture of what God says, the Word of God that gives life.
For the trumpet will sound,
and the dead will be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption,
and this mortal must put on immortality.
God is a God of life! He never wanted us to die.
Therefore, no longer listen to earthly wisdom, but believe what God says to you.
His Word gives you wings to be lifted up from earth to heaven.
His Word is life and clothes you with the immortal body of Christ.
Two of the four wings of the cherub were used to lift themselves up from the earth.
Ezekiel also tells us the function of the other two wings.
Ezekiel 1:11 (NAS)
Each had two wings covering their bodies.
We had already learned that all four wings represent the Word of God. ➡ Everything God says to you.
Two of those four wings are to lift us from the earth to a higher level.
From earth to heaven.
Not in our own strength but by believing what God says.
We have just discovered that the other two wings are used to cover the body.
When we keep in mind that the wings portray the Word of God we find here a beautiful truth that is found throughout the Bible.
Galatians 3:27 (NAS)
For all of you who were baptized into Christ
have clothed yourselves with Christ.
When you have ears to hear what the Spirit of God says to you,
it will clothe your mortal body with the immortal body of Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:3-4 (NKJV)
If indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked.
For we who are in this tent (by this Paul means our body)
groan, being burdened,
not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed,
that mortality may be swallowed up by life.
Man has always been looking for eternal life.
Especially in contemporary times, science is daily working on finding ways to extend life on Earth.
Man no longer believes in the source of all life, the almighty creator of all that exists, and therefore seeks the solution in chemistry and technology.
Artificial intelligence has already been officially declared a deity by man, because it is believed that therein lies our redemption.
They think that Artificial Intelligence will eventually give us eternal life.
But Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life!
He is the Word made flesh. He brings us the true gospel.
Gospel means glad tidings.
Jesus is the message that really brings joy.
His message is life!
He says:
John 6:51 (NKJV)
I am the living bread which came down from heaven.
If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever!
And the bread that I shall give is My flesh,
which I shall give for the life of the world.
He gave His life for us so that we wouldn’t have to die anymore.
Romans 6:6-9 (NKJV)
For we know that our old man was crucified with Him.
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more.
Death no longer has dominion over Him.
Christ means anointed one. ➡ A man anointed with the Holy Spirit of God.
Jesus is the head of Christ and we are the body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:27)
And we know that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more!
Jesus says:
John 11:25-26 (NKJV)
I am the resurrection and the life!
He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.
Do you believe this?
